The adoption of Solar in the US in only at 3% because the process of going solar is really confusing. There are thousands of panels, inverters, installers, loans, leases, PPAs, credits, rebates, monitoring and mounting systems. There are too many parts involved and it takes too much time to navigate. 

The current sales process is also lengthy and convoluted…and believe it or not still sold in person: Prospect must schedule an in-home appointment with a solar sales rep who goes through their sales presentation. From there, you will be asked to produce 12 months of utility bills to calculate usage and to size out a system for the house and run credit checks, write up and execute contractor and financing and interconnection docs. For most solar shoppers getting a solar proposal can take hours. 

And there’s no online solution (even though 4 out of 5 solar inquiries are done online) so we built software to facilitate this cumbersome purchasing experience with a one-stop shopping platform.

We set out with a simple mission to make the process of going solar easier but by unravelling all the pieces and selling solar online and directly to consumers we ended up cutting out a lot of soft costs and operations inefficiencies that have nothing to do with panels and inverters. Soft costs account for 67% of the cost of solar. Insolar’s intelligent software takes a lot of the human legwork and expensive touch points out of the process, enabling solar providers to save money on staff, marketing, canvassing, sales collateral, sales reps, cars, gas, expense accounts, commissions, etc, etc. So by carving out all of this we’re able to offer solar for up to 50% less than traditional solar providers.

The best of everything is a value proposition that doesn’t exist in the market. Insolar’s easy to use online platform is the industry's only solution that guarantees the lowest price for the installation of the latest solar technology by the best local installers. The platform also instantly retrieves the best industry warranties with the longest coverage and all federal, state, local and cash rebates available for each project. 

The problem is currently ineffectively (hence the 3% adoption rate) being solved by online bidding platforms that post and broker solar jobs off to installers that pay them. Or they straight up sell your info as a lead, more often than not to multiple installers. Either way the customer is at the mercy of whatever equipment the auctioned off installer has in stock as and whatever financing plans they have in-house. So even though the users of these platforms may get a better deal it’s far from the best deal. And you still get Spammed. 

We don’t do SPAM. And everybody wins. Our users get an awesome deal and like us because the process is hassle-free and they save time and money. Installers, suppliers and lenders benefit because we give them business and they make more money. Everyone benefits because we move an inch closer to a sustainable planet. 

Like industries that came before, this one too is going through a transformation. Just like the mortgage industry needed to create software and platforms that simplifies getting a mortgage (when was the last time you were tele-marketed to refinance your house?) Solar companies need to start using smart, organized platforms to source their business. Online platforms helped grow the mortgage industry 5-fold from 2010 to 2016. New mandatory solar regulations start in 2020 which should give solar an even bigger push.
